moonvine

Planting Tips

Spacing:  a few vines go a long way!
Height: as high as its support/trellis will take it
Exposure: full sun to pt shade; more blooms in higher light
Blooming Season: summer to fall

Characteristics: Very fragrant, attractive to moths

So named because of its habit of blooming at twilight.  Plant this rambunctious rambler where you can enjoy watching its large, white flowers unfurl at dusk, and appreciate the sweet fragrance so reminiscent of an old Southern garden. Will forgive a wilt but may drop leaves as a result. The open flowers attract some interesting moths at night so have the ID book handy!
